महाराणा प्रताप मेवाड के राजा थे। उनके पिता का नाम उदयसिंह था प्रताप का जन्म 9 मई, 1540 ई. में कुम्भलगढ में हुआ था। उनके दादा राणासांगा भी बहुत वीर थे। प्रताप बचपन से ही बहुत शक्तिशाली तथा साहसी थे। पूरे राजस्थान में प्रताप अकेले राजा था जिन्होंने अकबर की अधीनता स्वीकार नहीं की। हल्दीघाटी का प्रसिद्ध युद्ध इनके तथा अकबर ने सेनापति नामसिंह के बीच लड़ा गया। इस युद्ध में राणा प्रताप की पराजय हुई। इस पराजय के पश्चात उन्हें बहुत से कष्टों का सामना करना पड़ा।
